How to heal food intolerances

Over the last decade I have become increasingly passionate about reversing food intolerances for my clients.  Most of the mainstream medical community, and even much of the alternative health community blame foods for food intolerances. You often hear phrases like "dairy is inflammatory" or "grains are evil". The solution is to simply cut them out. People feel better when they remove these foods which is great, but then, 6 months later, the symptoms return.I see it all the time!

Why does this happen?

Essentially this happens because the root problem is not the food, it is the state of your gut. Our gut is the long digestive tract from our mouth to our anus and it contains a mucosal membrane, enzymes, specific acids and beneficial bacteria called probiotics. The cell lining of the gut is only 1 cell thick and all the cells are meant to be tightly stuck together so undigested food particles don't leak into the bloodstream.Antibiotics, the birth control pill, drinking unfiltered water, eating non-organic foods, processed foods and many other lifestyle factors wage war on a healthy gut. These kill the beneficial bacteria and destroy the gut lining! When this lining gets inflamed we see undigested food particles leaking into the blood stream and our immune system goes crazy trying to attack and get rid of these foods that shouldn't be there. This causes food intolerances. Your body learns that these foods are invaders and over time creates a response to get them out as soon as they are detected. That response is inflammation and it manifests in so many ways. Eczema, athsma, bloating, fatigue, thyroid problems, muscle and joint pain, oh and of course just about every autoimmune disease! Constant inflammation means a constant attack on your own body.

How to reverse food intolerances

If you follow the main solution of just removing foods, you'll be on a long journey of restriction. First it's gluten, and then dairy, then grains. 3 Years from now you'll have at least 10 foods you can't tolerate. Would you believe I've worked with people that can only digest 3 foods! Can you even imagine living like that?The solution is not to simply cut out the problematic food. It's to heal and seal the gut lining.
